Interior Projects Irving, TX | Custom Built-Ins, Trim, Drywall, and Paint

Interior projects are often the last phase of a renovation and the first thing anyone notices when they walk through the front door. The quality of the paint, the precision of the trim, the fit of a custom built-in, and the invisibility of a well-executed drywall repair all communicate something about how seriously the home has been maintained and improved. Irving homeowners who want their interior finishes to look genuinely professional, not just painted over, trust Build Strong Construction and Remodeling to bring the same trade coordination and quality standard to interior work that we bring to kitchen renovations and structural projects. We've completed interior projects across Irving ranging from single-room paint jobs and trim replacements to full interior finish packages following major renovations, including drywall throughout, texture matching, crown molding installation, custom built-in shelving, and a complete paint schedule covering walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and cabinets. Every interior project is managed by the same project manager structure we apply to larger renovations: one point of contact, one schedule, one standard for every trade involved, and a final walkthrough that confirms every element meets the quality you're paying for before we're done.

Safety First

Interior finish work in an Irving home involves paint, adhesives, and trim installation in occupied spaces, so we protect finished surfaces, contain dust from drywall work, and leave your home cleaner than we found it every day we're on site.

Competitive Pricing

Written estimates that separate paint, drywall, trim, and built-in work clearly so you know exactly what each component of your interior project costs before any work begins.

Timely Completion

Interior project schedules are built around your household's routine so disruptive work happens at times that minimize inconvenience, and the project completes on the date we agreed to at the start.

Interior finish work is where most renovation projects either come together as a cohesive result or fall apart into a collection of things that almost match. The drywall texture that was supposed to match the adjacent wall but doesn’t quite. The paint color that looked right on the chip but reads differently across a whole room. The crown molding that’s level on one wall and visibly off on the return. These are the details that separate a renovation that feels finished from one that feels rushed, and they’re the details we get right because we’ve learned through experience that doing them correctly the first time is faster and less expensive than fixing them after the client has seen the finished result.

Every interior project we complete in Irving ends with a quality walkthrough where we review every surface and every element against the project scope. Paint coverage, caulk lines, trim alignment, door swing and latch operation, built-in dimension, and drywall texture blend are all checked before we call the job complete. When something isn’t right, we fix it before we leave. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to because it’s the standard that defines what professional interior finish work actually means in practice.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience working with David Rubin and his team on my backyard project. From the very beginning to the completion of my back porch and beautiful gazebo area, David was there every step of the way. I had several contractors come out and give me estimates, but David immediately stood out. He was personable, honest, trustworthy, reliable, and genuinely interested in understanding exactly what I wanted. As a single woman who had never taken on a project like this before, I honestly had no idea where to start. David made the entire process comfortable and stress-free. I never felt pressured or taken advantage of. David worked with me on financing to make the project affordable while still giving me what I wanted. He went above and beyond what I expected. He even provided a shower door at no additional cost and moved and stained my fence without charging me extra. While I was at work, David and his crew handled everything—from picking up supplies to coordinating the work and making sure everything was taken care of. Whenever I had a concern, an idea, or something I felt needed to be corrected, David listened and took care of it right away. He would call and check in regularly to make sure I was happy and that everything was progressing the way it should. What impressed me most was that David treated my project as if it were his own. He didn’t just want to finish the job—he wanted me to be happy with the result. And the best part is that even after the project was completed, David has continued to be helpful. He has offered to connect me with people who can help with other things around my home, such as putting furniture together, installing ceiling fans, and other handyman projects. I truly feel like I gained a friend, not just a contractor. My backyard turned out beautiful, and I am extremely happy with the quality of the work and, most importantly, with how I was treated throughout the entire process. If you are looking for someone who is honest, dependable, caring, and truly stands behind his work, I highly recommend David Rubin and his team. You will not regret choosing them! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Build Strong team actually completed two projects - one to repair water damage to my retaining wall and a second to refurbish a very old pool deck that wasn't really safe to walk on. The retaining wall repair included a new French drain to relieve water pressure after rainfall and the work was completed quickly. A more challenging project followed that involved removing all of the sandstone slabs around our pool and resetting them so that they were graded correctly for runoff and to improve the overall look and safety of the entire pool. A new French drain was also installed. The work was well done and has turned an unsafe eyesore back into a nice looking finish. The first image is the upgraded pool prior to power washing and the second is the original look. We were very satisfied with both projects.

Core Features

What Makes Us Stand Out?

Our top priority is customer satisfaction, and we work closely with Irving homeowners to deliver interior finishes that look professionally done and hold their quality through years of daily life.

Interior Painting

When you're painting the interior of your Irving home, the quality of the preparation work determines how the finished paint looks and how long it holds up before needing touch-up. Walls with open nail holes, surface cracks, and unprimed patches will show all of those defects clearly through even a premium paint applied in two coats. We fill every nail hole, repair every visible crack, sand any rough texture, and prime every repaired area before any finish paint is applied, so the finished walls are smooth, even, and free of the blemishes that make a fresh paint job look like it needed more preparation. We also cut edges by hand rather than using tape on every surface, which produces cleaner lines than tape alone and eliminates the paint bleeding under tape that can require touch-up immediately after the tape comes off.

Drywall Repair and Texture

When you're repairing drywall in an Irving home, the texture matching is the element that most contractors either underestimate or skip. A patch that's been filled, sanded, and painted without texture matching will show as a smooth spot in the existing wall surface every time the light crosses it at an angle, which in a typical room means every morning and every evening when the sun is low. We sample the texture on the existing wall, test the match on a piece of scrap drywall, and adjust the spray pressure, distance, and material consistency until the test patch matches the existing texture before applying the texture to the repair. That process takes more time than guessing, and it's why our drywall repairs hold up under scrutiny rather than being visible from across the room.

Trim and Molding Installation

When you're installing crown molding, baseboard, or casing in an Irving home, the precision of the corner joints determines whether the finished trim looks professionally installed or assembled from standard stock. Rooms that appear to have 90-degree corners almost never do. The actual angle at any interior corner in a framed home is typically between 88 and 92 degrees due to framing tolerances and drywall thickness variations. Cutting a 45-degree miter on two pieces that meet at a 91-degree corner produces a joint with a visible gap on one side.

Custom Built-Ins and Shelving

When you're adding custom built-in shelving or a media center to a room in your Irving home, the design has to account for what's already in the room before a single board is cut. Electrical outlets that end up inside a built-in are inaccessible and create a code violation. HVAC supply or return registers that get blocked by a built-in create a pressure imbalance in the room's air distribution. Low-voltage cables that weren't rerouted before the built-in went in are stuck behind finished millwork. We assess every outlet, register, and cable location in the build area before designing the built-in, and we coordinate any electrical or low-voltage relocations required before installation begins so the finished unit looks like part of the original room rather than something built around obstacles.

Interior Doors and Hardware

When you're replacing interior doors in an Irving home, the condition of the existing rough opening determines how much work the installation requires. A rough opening that's out of plumb, out of level, or too small for a standard pre-hung door unit requires framing correction before the new door can be hung correctly. A new door hung in an out-of-plumb opening will swing open or closed on its own due to gravity rather than staying in the position it's placed. We assess the rough opening condition before the door is ordered, identify any framing corrections required, and execute those corrections before hanging the new door so it operates correctly from the first time it's swung after installation.

Accent Walls and Paneling

When you're adding shiplap, board and batten, or wainscoting to a room in your Irving home, the layout has to account for the wall's dimensions, the ceiling height, and the location of electrical outlets and switches before any material is cut. A board and batten layout that doesn't account for the window and door openings in the wall will result in boards that crowd the casing on one side and land at an awkward distance from it on the other. A wainscoting layout that doesn't account for outlet heights will have outlets that land in the middle of a panel rather than in the rail where they can be cleanly integrated. We plan the layout with all of these conditions mapped before cutting starts, so the finished accent wall looks intentionally designed from every angle in the room.

Interior Painting

A fresh, professionally executed paint job changes how an Irving home feels more immediately than almost any other interior improvement. Color selection, prep quality, and application technique all contribute to the result, and all three have to be right for the finished paint to look and hold the way it's supposed to. We handle color consultation as part of every interior painting project, helping clients test colors in the actual room at different times of day before committing to a full-room application, because a color that reads neutral in a north-facing room reads completely differently in a south-facing room with afternoon sun. Surface preparation before painting includes filling nail holes with the correct filler for the surface type, sanding glossy surfaces for adhesion, priming raw or repaired surfaces, and caulking along trim and at wall transitions before any finish coat is applied. These steps add time before the first roll of color paint goes on the wall, and they're precisely the steps that determine whether the finished paint looks like a professional result or a DIY project. We don't skip prep to save time, because the prep is where the quality of the final result is determined.

Custom Built-Ins and Shelving

Built-in shelving, bookcases, and cabinetry transform the function and the appearance of a room in ways that furniture can't replicate. A built-in bookcase that runs floor to ceiling with the correct reveal from the adjacent window casing and the correct relationship to the room's existing crown molding looks like it was part of the original architecture of the home. The same shelving from a furniture store, regardless of its quality, will always look like furniture in a room rather than an architectural feature of the room. We design and build custom built-ins for Irving homeowners in home offices, living rooms, bedrooms, mudrooms, and laundry rooms, designing every unit for the specific room it's going into rather than adapting a standard module to fit a space it wasn't made for. Every built-in we install includes a finish painted to match the existing trim in the room, door and drawer hardware selected for consistency with the home's existing hardware profile, and adjustable shelf options where the storage use of the unit is likely to change over time.

Trim and Molding Installation

Crown molding, baseboard, and door casing are the architectural details that give a room its finished, intentional character. Without trim, even a beautifully painted room looks incomplete. With trim that's installed precisely, level, tight at the joints, and caulked correctly before paint, the room looks like it was designed at the quality level the rest of the renovation represents. The difference between trim that looks professional and trim that looks like an afterthought is almost entirely in the preparation, measurement, and joint precision, not in the material itself. We install standard profile trim, custom routed profiles, and built-up crown assemblies made from multiple stacked pieces for more traditional or formal interior design directions. Every piece is measured for the actual room dimensions, cut to the correct angle at every corner and return, face-nailed and counter-sunk, filled, and caulked before paint so the finished trim has no visible fastener holes and no gaps at the wall or ceiling line. That's the execution standard that defines professional trim installation, and it's what we bring to every interior project in Irving.

Drywall Repair and Texture

Drywall damage in an Irving home shows up in every light condition that crosses the wall at an angle, which in most rooms means every morning and every evening. Water stains, impact holes, settling cracks, and the ghost-lines left by previous paint patches all become visible the moment the light is right. We repair every category of drywall damage, from small stress cracks and nail pops that happen as a home settles over time, to large section replacements required after plumbing repairs, structural modifications, or water intrusion events. The most technically demanding part of any drywall repair is the texture matching, and it's the step most commonly executed poorly. We sample the existing texture before touching any repair area, adjust the spray or hand-applied texture to achieve a match on test material, and apply the texture to the repair only after the match is confirmed. The finished repair is then primed and painted to blend with the surrounding wall. When the result is correct, the repair is invisible. That's the standard we hold every drywall repair to in every Irving home we work in.
